Correspondence; manuscripts by Jones and others; subject files; reserach materials including inventories of deceased persons' estates, probate records arranged by state, microfilm of state and country financial records, and colonial maps; research data on file cards, punch cards, and computer printouts; teaching materials; and printed material. There is correspondence with Stuart Bruchey of the Columbia University Department of History. The collection includes 92 volumes from Jones' Library.

Project materials, including reports, monographs, books, articles, Masters essays, Doctoral dissertations, foreign publications, administrative records, correspondence, minutes and audio-visual materials.

The Corporation awards grants to nonprofit organizations and institutions for projects that are broadly educational in nature and that show promise of having national or international impact. Certain appropriations are made for activities, such as Corporation-led initiatives that are administered by the foundation's officers. The trustees set the overall policies of the foundation and have final authority to approve all grants above $50,000 recommended by the program staff. Grants of $25,000 or less, called discretionary grants, are made upon the approval of the president and are reported to the board; larger discretionary grants, those between $25,000 and $50,000, are also reviewed by a Corporation-wide group, which makes recommendations to the president. Professional correspondence, diaries, unpublished articles, lecture notes, abstracts, and other manuscripts by Mitchell. Subjects include economic theory and its history, business cycles, money, national planing, anthropology and psychology, and published material by Mitchell and others.

Personal papers of Dr. Valerii Soifer (Soyfer), well-known Russian biologist, and the records of the Committee to Help Russian Scholars.

Manuscripts and lectures notes. The lecture notes are filed in 127 volumes arranged by subject. Professor Barry's interest in music is represented by the holograph manuscript of a voluminous musical composition"The Alcayde" composed in the late 1890s.

The correspondence, manuscripts, notes, speeches, documents, and related printed materials of Hellman, reflecting her specialty as an historian of 16th and 17th century astronomers and astronomy as well as ancient, medieval, and Renaissance science. Included in her professional correspondence are numerous letters from George Sarton and Lynn Thorndike. College records, class materials and class notes document the development of her academic career beginning with her undergraduate career at Vassar. Numerous lecture notes, class notes and working papers reflect her teaching, research and lectures at New York University, Cornell, the Columbia University Renaissance Seminar, and her active participation in professional organizations such as the History of Science Society. Of particular interest are eight boxes of notes and related printed materials concerning astronomy, astronomers, and the history of science.
