The Young Mens and Womens Christian Associations were founded as a response to unhealthy social and living conditions in cities at the end of the Industrial Revolution. The collection contains pamphlets, reports, and correspondence regarding the YMCA 19th World Conference in Helsinki, Finland; pamphlets, correspondences, minutes, and questionnaires related to the YMCA Constantinople Branch in Turkey between 1926-1928; reports regarding the history and progress of the YMCA and YWCA in different countries; and pamphlets, questionnaires, records, and history of the YMCA in different parts of the world including Japan, Czechoslovakia, Poland, China and Belgium.

Letty Mandeville Russell papers, 1947 -- 2005

Letty Mandeville Russell was a renowned theologian and Professor of Theology at Yale Divinity School (YDS) and an alumna of Harvard Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary, who worked in East Harlem Protestant Parish, was a director of Religious Education at Church of the Ascension, and a PCUSA home missionary. The collection includes syllabi, notes and course material relating to her tenure at YDS; manuscripts, notes and correspondence relating to her publications; reports, minutes and correspondence concerning work on denominational bodies, ecumenical task forces and committees, nonprofit organizations, and professional associations; correspondence; and memorabilia.

Edward Robinson papers, 1826 -- 1838

Edward Robinson (1794-1863) was a Presbyterian minister, Biblical scholar, Union Theological Seminary professor, and its first librarian. This collection contains the manuscript originally entitled "Biblical Researches in Palestine and the Countries in the South," appendices of English-Arabic lists and language exercises, travel itineraries, a guide to Arabic pronunciation, and supplementary materials relating to travel; galley proofs of the Friedrich Wilhelm Gesenius lexicon with handwritten annotations by Robinson and possibly others; as well as two plastic-bound transcripts, indexed, of letters exchanged between Edward Robinson and Moses Stuart between 1826 and 1830.

Philip Schaff papers, 1827 -- 1937

Philip Schaff (1819-1893) was a theologian, church historian, ecumenist, and Union Theological Seminary professor. Schaff was president of the American Bible Revision Committee, which he organized in 1871 at the request of the British Committee on Bible Revision. The collection contains correspondence, including from the American Bible Revision Committee and the British Committee on Bible Revision; notes and lectures; diaries; and scrapbooks and memorabilia, including a photograph album.
