This series contains materials compiled by the Missionary Research Library that document foreign mission work in Africa during the early and mid 20th century, including material pertaining to committees, conferences, education, churches, Christianity, religion, missions, missionaries, and other subjects and topics in Africa. Formats include reports, minutes, papers, photographs, and a drum.

This series contains correspondence and organizational records related to the Bureau of Missions. Correspondence primarily includes letters of Edwin Bliss and his successor Dr. Henry Otis Dwight, as they write to missionaries and missionary organizations around the world to garner interest in the newly formed organization, sell Bureau-produced materials, and acquire information and documents for the museum and library. There are also a few letters from Bureau President Alexander Maitland. Organizational records include extensive bylaws, meeting minutes, publications, newspaper articles, and charters.

This series contains one individual letter and three books of correspondence from members of the New Haven Branch of the Woman's Board of Missions. The third volume notes the inclusion of "copies of important missionary and business letters, from the corresponding secretary of the New Haven Brach of the Woman's Board of Missions." The recording secretary for the three volumes was Hannah D. Hume. The records detail information on missionaries in the field as well as events in the branch in the United States. Hume refers to the organization in a variety of ways including the Women's Missionary Society of New Haven and the Ladies' Missionary Society.

This series contains detailed minutes in book form from the New Haven Branch and the New York State Branch of the Woman's Board of Missions. The handwritten records detail the proceedings of the Executive, Public, and Annual meetings. The records show who was in attendance at the meetings; which issues were voted on; what papers were read and presentations made and other descriptive items showing the daily workings of the Branch.

This series contains correspondence, notes, articles, pamphlets, reports and source files related to the beginning of the organization and the specific needs and conditions of Armenia and Syria. The correspondence documents the experiences of those in war-torn areas and the need for aid. The bulk of William Walker Rockwell's extensive correspondence is from 1911-1917. The letters go into detail regarding conditions in Armenia, such as deportations and poor treatment of individuals. Correspondence is from individuals and locations throughout the world, such as Germany and Switzerland. Rockwell also wrote to Ambassadors Henry Morgenthau and Abram I. Elkus, US Ambassadors to Turkey. Many of the documents contain copies of other material not directly related to the ACASR, such as other committees with related goals. Rockwell's materials also include his own writings, such as for the pamphlet, The Pitiful Plight of the Assyrian Christians, 1916. The remainder of the series offers source files, also collected by Rockwell, on ACASR work and what other organizations, such as the Federal Council of Churches and the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, were doing to help.

This series contains correspondence, financial records, founding documents, minutes, reports, and other resource material relating to the Eastern Fellowship of Professors of Missions, established to promote fellowship, spiritual life, and professional usefulness of members. Some records reference specific missionaries, including Robert Ernest Hume, Charles Fahs, and Daniel Fleming.

This series contains organizational records-- including a bibliography, manuals, publications, minutes, and historical and other materials-- and correspondence related to the Student Volunteer Movement for Foreign Missions (SVM). The organizational records contain early documentation of the organization, including material from the Student Volunteer Union of New York and Brooklyn and the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Also included is correspondence of James B. Cochrane, as well as Horace Tracy Pitkin. Pitkin, a graduate of Yale and of Union Theological Seminary (1894) and former travelling secretary for SVM, was killed during the Boxer rebellion in China in 1902. Individuals of note whose letters are included are Henry Winters Luce, Harlan P. Beach, John R. Mott, and traveling secretary Robert E. Lewis. Pitkin's letters include a list of missionaries and a brief summary of their education and missionary history; missionaries of note include Harvey D. Griswold, George Cornwell, Frank Hoskins and Willis P. Elwood.
