William Carey was an English Baptist missionary in England, known as the "father of modern missions," who founded the English Baptist Missionary Society (1792). He translated the Bible into Bengali, and was subsequently appointed Professor of Sanskrit and Bengali at Fort William College in Calcutta. He founded the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of India (1820), as well as hundreds of schools and churches. This collection contains one handwritten letter by William Carey, written in December 9, 1800, soon after Carey had relocated from Bengal to Serampore. The letter addresses an individual who Carey calls "My Dear Bro."

George Bowen, a graduate of Union Theological Seminary, served as a missionary in Bombay, India from 1848 until his death in 1888. Bowen was editor of the Bombay Guardian from 1854-1888. The collection includes one bound notebook containing his lectures, sermons, notes, and comments.

This collection, compiled by the MRL, contains filmstrips and commentary on the Church of South India's inauguration in 1947, as well as CD copies. This film and commentary, entitled "A Church Is Born" and presented by the India Committee of the Foreign Missions Conference of North America (FMCNA), provides a brief overview of the history of Christian missions to India, explains the appeal for unity amongst Protestant denominations in India, and shows the inauguration of the Church of South India.

This collection contains material related to the American Marathi Mission, the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) first Protestant mission in Western India, compiled in 1962 by Louise Gliem Fisher. Materials include general background information and reports on various mission stations, as well as typescript material pulled together from minutes, reports, diaries, brochures, and correspondence.

This collection contains correspondence relating to the financial and ministerial work of John Franklin Goucher, Methodist pastor and benefactor of educational institutions in India, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, as well as a hardcover book entitled "Views in Lucknow," presented to Goucher by the students of Reid Christian College in Lucknow, India.

This collection contains recollections of Dr. John J. Banninga, a missionary in Madura from 1901-1942, as well as sermons by the Rev. P. Thomas Pastor of Trinity Church, Tirumangalam.

Clark P. Hard was a Methodist Episcopal missionary in South India beginning in 1874. The collection contains correspondence, diaries, photographs, scrapbooks, and personal items relating to Hards life and missionary work.

Augustine Ralla Ram was General Secretary of the Student Christian Movement of India, Burma, and Ceylon; Vice President of the World Student Christian Federation; Executive Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Christian Council; and Editor of "The Christian Messenger," among other titles. The collection contains one book of tribute to Ram, a report, correspondence, and research and writings.

This collection contains a 381-page handwritten English translation, completed in 1944 by D.D. Chandekar, of Arunodaya. The Autobiography of Bãbã Padmanjí, containing a description of his former life as a Hindu and the causes which led to his conversion, which gives a brief history of his life as a Hindu, his conversion to Christianity, and details the religious, political, personal and familial struggles he endured as a result.
