Correspondence; manuscripts of books, chapters, addresses, lectures, articles, and other writings; clippings and other printed materials relating to Butler's life and career, and memorabilia, ca. 1900-1947. Also, correspondence, 1891-1946, between Butler and presidents of the United States including William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman.

Congressional papers consisting of correspondence memoranda, speeches, reports, photographs and printed materials relating to her terms in Congress. The collection contains general correspondence and administrative files, as well as extensive subject files on a wide variety of topics with which Abzug was involved while in Congress. Also included are Legislative files, being the chronological files of background material for legislation considered on the House floor, and printed versions of legislation by Abzug and others. The Casework Files, relating to Abzug's advocacy on behalf of constituents involved in civil rights, housing, military, employment and related cases, are closed. Among the major correspondents are Carl Albert, Abraham D. Beame, Hugh L. Carey, Gerald R. Ford, Edward I. Koch, John V. Lindsay, Nelson A. Rockefeller, and Gloria Steinem. Materials added in 1981 include: draft transcripts of an oral history, appointment books, speeches and subject files (particularly on privacy and freedom of information) all interfiled in the collection and campaign materials press releases and newspaper clippings.

A small collection of correspondence, awards, and ephemera related to the engineer David B. Steinman. The bulk of the material dates from the first half of the 1950s.

Included are: correspondence with other writers, publishers, and friends; scripts and production files of her plays; and, manuscripts and drafts of her books and other poems, along with other related materials. Correspondence, manuscripts, audio tapes and printed material pertaining to the coup d'etat in Greece in 1967 and to Greek resistance movements in Europe and the United States. Letters from Margaret Papandreou describe the arrest of Andreas Papandreou at the time of the coup and his activities in Europe after his release from prison and the activities of his associates and supporters. There are records of American organizations, especially the Pan-Helenic Liberation Movement (PAK), formed to help Papandreou's cause. Also included are many letters from Mogens Camre, then aide to the Prime Minister of Denmark, and later member of the Danish Parliament; correspondence with Eleni Vlachou, publisher and editor of Kathimerini ('The Daily' a principal Athens newspaper) and with several U.S. political figures including Robert F. Kennedy, Eugene McCarthy, John Kenneth Galbraith and James William Fulbright. The audiotapes are of speechesby and interviews of Papandreou, Rousseas, and others.

Correspondence, reports, memoranda, news releases, photographs, sound recordings, financial records, and printed material. These files, more than three-quarters of which are in the Greek language, contain correspondence with Greeks, Greek-Americans, Greek officials, and diplomats, American congressmen, senators and other elected officials, print and media journalists, publishers, and other Americans regarding the dictatorship of the Greek colonels from 1967 to 1974. Also, routine requests for information on Greece, including the loan of audio-visual and pictorial materials, for use by journalists, teachers, students, publishers, etc. The files of letters dealing with the Greek Junta and Greek-American relations contain numerous photocopies of letters from American government and elected officials. Also included are nine sound recordings of Greek language broadcasts in the United States; pamphlets on Greece, and clippings from American newspapers on Greece and Greek-American relations; and photographs of one 1971 anti-Junta demonstration held in New York City. There are some financial records dating back to 1956, including account books, check registers, and cancelled checks.
