Domestic correspondence of Lucius Lee Hubbard (1849-1933), and that of his wife, Frances Johnson Lambard Hubbard (1852-1927), their three daughters, and other relatives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Houghton, Michigan. Most of the letters are addressed to Hubbard's daughter Frances Hubbard Flaherty, the wife and co-worker of Robert J. Flaherty, the film director. There is also correspondence of the parents and relatives of Frances Hubbard, the Lambard family of Georgia.

Professional and personal papers of Robert J. Flaherty and of his associates Frances Hubbard Flaherty and David Flaherty, concerning his career as an explorer in the Hudson Bay area, and as a film-maker from 1913 until 1951. The collection includes correspondence, diaries, financial records, scripts, publicity materials, his books, short stories, and articles and stills from his films including NANOOK OF THE NORTH (1922), MOANA (1925), MAN OF ARAN (1934), ELEPHANT BOY (1937), THE LAND (1941), and LOUISIANA STORY (1948). Also, files of the Robert Flaherty Foundation, including the later personal papers of Flaherty's wife, Frances Hubbard Flaherty.

Contained in this collection are documents related to the life and career of Ernestine Evans, a journalist, critic and literary agent active in the early-to-mid-twentieth century. Personal and professional correspondence and a wide variety of literary manuscripts, likely accumulated during her long career as a literary agent, constitute the bulk of this collection. In addition, the collection includes photographs, drawings and other visual material. Also represented in this collection are clippings of Evans' and other journalists' work; printed material, both periodicals and books; personal documents (including address books, contact lists and journals), financial documents and medical documents.
