Correspondence, manuscripts, original political cartoons, printed and photostatic materials relating to the political and social activities of the Society of Tammany, or Columbian order. Most of the correspondence is concerned with the formation of the Kilroe Tammaniana Collection, Kilroe's collection of books, documents, manuscripts, posters, cartoons, etc. relating to Tammany Hall. Also, letters from various members of the Tammany organization. The manuscripts include typescripts of Kilroe's works such as A COMPLETE BIBLIOGRAPHY OF SAINT TAMMANY and TAMMANY HALL AND THE TAMMANY SOCIETIES IN THE UNITED STATES. In addition there are manuscript and typescript records of various Tammany Societies with particular emphasis on the New York City Society and the New York County Democratic Party organization. Among the cartoons are 22 by John Tinney McCutcheon (1870-1949), over half of which deals with Tammany and New York politics while the remainder concerns national politics with an emphasis on presidential campaigns.

The incomplete records of the New York State Library School, Albany, 1890-1911. Included are diploma lists, grade sheets, examination questions, examination questions with corresponding set of students' answers, pass cards, senior certificate lists, an admissions application, entrance examinations, curriculum materials, and some documents for the class of 1890. Also, records of the New York State Library School Association, Incorporated. In addition to letters from such prominent American librarians as Katharine L. Sharp, Joseph Wheeler, Ralph Munn, and James I. Wyer, there are minutes, reports, memoranda, and printed documents, including the Association's constitution. There is a scrapbook of blanks and forms used in the executive departments of U.S. libraries in 1893, mounted by the N.Y. State Library School for the American Library Association World's Columbian Exposition Comparative Library Exhibit (Chicago, 1893). Also, files of the school consisting of course materials, exams, publications of the School, student records, admission files, class lists and rankings, and some related correspondence.

The papers include approval and veto messages, budget materials, certificates, correspondence, litigation records, messages of necessity, photographs, press releases, proclamations, program bills, resolutions, schedules, speeches, video recordings, and visitors' logs.

Arthur Whittier Macmahon papers, 1911-1977

Correspondence, memoranda, notes, manuscripts, addresses, and printed materials of Macmahon, including his course outlines and lecture notes, travel logs, and extensive files of notes and manuscripts on aspects of federalism and governmental administration. Charles A. Beard and Randolph S. Bourne were both personal friends of Macmahon, and the files contain letters from them as well as notes and correspondence relating to them. Also, a three-volume bound photocopy of the typescript of Macmahon's "Conflict and Consensus in Democracies" 1969.
