The files deal largely with Keppel's personal and professional life during his tenure as President of the Carnegie Corporation, and also include some files from his years as Newton D. Baker's Third Assistant Secretary of War, and as Dean of Columbia College. There are extensive files of correspondence from and to Keppel's parents and children, as well as files concerning his activities in organizations such as the Century and Columbia University Clubs. The letters from friends and business associates concern American education, politics, business, and cultural life, particularly in the New York metropolitan area, from 1900 to 1943.

Alexander McMillan Welch bookplate collection, 1700-1930
2 linear feetAmerican, English and French bookplates from private and institutional libraries. Box four contains some related correspondence concerning Welch's collecting and exchanging of bookplates. Four letters are from the English painter-etcher, Charles William Sherborn, who designed a bookplate for Welch's wife, Fanny Fredericka Dyckman Welch. The original etched plate is also enclosed.

Included also are photographs, awards, and financial papers. The correspondents include many of Macy's close friends including Peter Beilenson, William Rose Benét, Clifton Fadiman, Christopher Fry, Lillian Gish, Alec Guinness, Fritz Kredel, Frederic and Florence March, Francis Meynell, Bruce Rogers, Louis Untermeyer, Carl Van Doren, and Lynd Ward. Also, miscellaneous engravings, lithographs, and drawings. The collection also includes 3 series of books: Macy-Masius Readers Club, Readers Club and Heritage Press. Macy Memorial Limited Addition Club books were cataloged individually as MACYMEM
Ernest D. Roth etchings of Columbia University buildings, 1938
1 linear feetFive original etchings depicting buildings on the campus of Columbia University. Each etching is signed and dated by the artist "Ernest D. Roth / 1938". Each print is in ecellent condition within an original mat and protected by original tissue guards. Four of the original six printed lables are present. The prints and labels have been preserved in the original buckram portfolio titled "Columbia Etchings / By Ernest D. Roth, N.A. / Columbia University Press." All are in excellent condition. The drawings are on extended loan to the Columbia University Alumni Center.
James Mark Baldwin Bookplate Collection, 1700-1900
0.5 linear feetThe collection, containing nearly 800 bookplates, includes exemplars of American and English plates of the 18th through the early 20th century. The collection was formed by Dr Baldwin and his wife, Helen Hayes Baldwin. Of special interest is a plate done for Dr Baldwin by the English painter-etcher Charles William Sherborn. The collection contains proofs, prints with remarques on various sizes and types of paper, and correspondence relating to the designing and production of the plate.
Albert E. Flanagan architectural drawings and art, 1913-1950
1 print boxNew York City architectural renderer, artist, and printmaker. Born 1884 in Newark, New Jersey, Flanagan graduated from the School of Architecture at Columbia University in 1910. Flanagan taught drawing at Columbia from 1911 to 1912 and returned as an associate professor of design from 1920 to 1925. Flanagan also worked for several architectural firms, often as a renderer, including Trowbridge & Livingston, McKim, Mead & White, and Harvey Corbett. In 1927, Flanagan left Corbett's office and began full time work as a fine artist. From January 1928 until August 1929, Flanagan travelled in Europe, studying with painter Edouard Léon Cortès in Paris from the fall of 1928 through the spring of 1929. Flanagan was also one of the original members of the Society of American Etchers. Flanagan eventually returned to practicing architecture, associating with various firms until he retired in the mid-1960s. He died in New York City in 1969.
