Research notes of Wettereau for his writings on the First Bank of the United States. The papers are rich in information about the economic, business, and political history of the Federalist, late Confederation, and early Republican periods, the Hamiltonian program, and the disputed election of 1800. Also, correspondence, miscellaneous notes, and the typescripts of three of Prof. Wettereau's works, THE HISTORY OF THE FIRST BANK OF THE UNITED STATES, STATISTICAL RECORDS OF THE FIRST BANK OF THE UNITED STATES, 1771-1811, and DEWITT CLINTON'S CANDIDACY FOR THE PRESIDENCY.

This collection consists of the materials used to compile the report, Columbia's Academic Eminence: A Report by the University Development Plan Committee's Subcommittee on Academic Eminence, 1954-1955. There are surveys for each academic department (Philosophy) and "field of learning" (Ethics, Logic, Metaphysics). There are also some subcommitee records: minutes, correspondence, outlines, and drafts of the final report.

Series II includes correspondence relating to changes in articles, production schedules and procedures, and financial records. The Classified Office Files contain correspondence of administrative officers of IESS; memoranda, minutes and agendas of Editorial Advisory Board meetigs; lists of biographers and suggested contributors; and monthly reports. General Production Files are composed of correspondence, invoices, drafts of table of contents, a style manual, editing procedures, and an index. There is also correspondence with prospective members of the Editorial Advisory Board.
