Three letters written in 1947-1948 by Washburn to Charles A. Bergerson. These letters concern the Root diplomatic mission to Russia in 1917, to which Washburn was attached as military aide. He discusses in particular detail a conversation he had with General Aleksei Brusilov during the Root mission. Also included are carbons of three letters from Bergerson, who had requested help from Washburn while doing research on the Root mission.

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials of General Aleksiei Alekseevich Brusilov and his wife Nadezhda Vladimirovna. The correspondence is largely copies of their letters from 1914-1918 and her correspondence after his death. The manuscripts include part of his memoirs and several of her minor manuscripts, including an incomplete memoir. There are family photographs as well as photographs of Brusilov in military dress. Printed materials relate to Brusilov's career in the Imperial and Red armies and his rehabilitation by the Soviets in the Khrushchev era.

The papers consist of manuscripts and printed materials. The manuscripts include an autobiographical essay, Pronin's memoirs about Generals Kornilov and Brusilov, an essay about an attempt to murder Trot︠s︡kiĭ and articles on the Russian emigration in Yugoslavia and Brazil. The printed materials include copies of the journal "Vera i vernost,́" Pronin's pamphlet "Krymskai︠a︡ voĭna -- Oborona Sevastopoli︠a︡" and "Vo imi︠a︡ pravdy -- O belom dvizhenii i ego vozhdi︠a︡kh," to which Pronin and others contributed.
