Correspondence, notes, lectures, and clippings of Marguerite Mespoulet, relating to her work and writings on French literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, with special emphasis on Charles Baudelaire, Paul Claudel, and Max Jacob. There are eleven letters and one manuscript"Partage de midi" of Paul Claudel, six letters and seven manuscripts of Max Jacob, and seven letters of Pierre Reverdy.

Manuscripts, manuscript notes, and manuscript notebooks of John Day, consisting of 87 notebooks of his research on various Greek papyri in the Columbia University Papyrus Collection. Also, there are several manuscripts and typescripts as well as numerous sheets of manuscript notes of his papyrological research.

These papers include the manuscripts of his fourteen books on European history, his research notes, manuscripts and printed copies of his many articles, lectures, contributions to books, and other notes. There is also some correspondence relating to his writings. In addition there are 16 letters from Albrecht-Carrié to Professor Stephen Koss, discussing University matters and international affairs.

Research materials, including notes, audio tapes, and original items, related to his multiple projects on Columbia and Barnard history.

This collection includes nine letters of Ralph Waldo Emerson as well as letters of Louis Agassiz, Amos Bronson Alcott, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James Russell Lowell, John Lothrop Motley, Charles Sumner, and John Greenleaf Whittier. In addition, there are two incomplete manuscripts by Emerson and one document from the Liverpool Custom-house signed by Nathaniel Hawthorne as Consul for the United States. The collection also includes the corrected typescript, index, and page and galley proofs for Thomas Franklin Currier, A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES (New York, 1953) which was edited by Professor Tilton. Also, some early correspondence and photographs of the Tilton family and friends. There are letters from the actors Annie Louise Ames, Richard J. Dillon, and Hans L. Meery to Tilton's grandfather, Bernard Paul Verne, as well as photographs, tintypes, and daguerreotypes of the Verne family and friends.
