The Burke Library is one of the largest theological libraries in North America, with holdings of over 700,000 items, including extensive special collections. The mission of the Burke Library is to identify, acquire, organize, provide access to, interpret, and preserve for the future information in the field of theology and contextually related areas of study.
This collection contains records related to the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief, established in 1915 to respond to the Armenian Genocide, and incorporated through an Act of Congress and renamed Near East Relief in 1919.
Isaac Taylor Headland was a missionary and educator in China. The collection contains correspondence, and photographs and clippings, including both formal portraits and street scenes of everyday life in China, as well as images of Beijing, military forces involved in the Boxer Rebellion, and the Qing Imperial family.

This series contains personal correspondence between Headland and other missionaries and teachers and correspondence regarding Peking University's endowment, as well as photographs and clippings collected by Headland as a missionary, professor, and college president in China. Included are formal portraits and street scenes of everyday life, people, and important personages in China, as well as images of Beijing, military forces involved in the Boxer Rebellion, and the Qing Imperial family. Also included are portraits of Chinese people and Western missionaries that were clipped from publications. Most of the photographs are undated and many lack identifying information; photographic portraits which have been identified include those of:
