The Opera company's mission is to inspire audiences with innovative and theatrically compelling opera at an affordable price. This collection documents the artistic productions and the daily administrative functions and operations attest to the mission of the company. The materials in this collection consist of administrative and financial records, production files, stage guides, scores, correspondence, programs, photographs, posters, scenery plans, memorabilia, printed materials, and audio and video recordings, dating from 1924 to 2019, with its bulk dating from 1965 to 1991.

26 linear feetGregory Mosher is an American theater director and producer. He led the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and later was asked to head the theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. Mosher was at Lincoln Center from 1985-1992. While there, he launched an innovative production schedule and implemented a new marketing scheme that replaced the traditional subscriber arrangement. Under Mosher, the theater flourished. He eventually left Lincoln Center and went on to lead the Arts Initiative at Columbia University. Currently, Mosher is a professor at Columbia's School of Arts. The collection consists of production files and correspondence from Mosher's time at the Goodman Theatre and Lincoln Center as well as for productions later in his career. In addition, there are plays as well as notebooks, appointment books, and videocassettes.

Ripley Hitchcock papers, 1885-1935
25 boxesLetters written to James Ripley Wellman Hitchcock, to Mrs. Hitchcock, and to Richard Henry Stoddard from various people in literary artistic and dramatic circles, mainly of New York. There are letters and documents relating to Hitchcock's early life, photographs, a group of materials relating to the American Art Alliance in which Mrs. Hitchcock was interested, and a group of miscellaneous papers and letters relating to the publication, dramatization, filming, and radio rights of Edward N. Westcott's DAVID HARUM which Mr. Hitchcock was instrumental in having published. Also, manuscripts and printed versions of Charles Chapin Sargent, Jr.'s (brother of Hitchcock's second wife, Helen Sargent Hitchcock) writings including short stories and a libretto for an operetta "Cleopatra" written for the Columbia College Musical Society in 1897, two scrapbooks containing mementos of his college years, two pictures, and a Columbia College diploma.

20 Linear FeetThe Joanna Wan-Ying Chan papers (陳尹瑩檔案) document the tale of a Hong Kong native, a US immigrant, a Maryknoll sister, and ultimately an artist and a trail-blazing playwright and stage director in Chinese-American theatre as well as Cantonese-language theatre in Hong Kong. The collection consists of Joanna Chan's personal materials as well as the records for three theatrical repertories: Four Seas Players, Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, dating from 1970-2020. Also included are files related to her collaborative and inspiring work and involvement in the Sing Sing Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program, dating from 2001-2020. The highlight and the bulk of the collection is in Series IV: Production Files, which focuses on the creative theatrical productions directed and produced by Joanna Chan.

Subseries II.2: Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America 美國長江劇團 includes records related to the Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America, dating from 1993 to 2014. Materials consist of board meeting minutes, financial records, and documents related to dance, exhibitions, concerts, and programming funded and supported by Yangtze. The subseries highlights the various arts programming that Joanna Chan created in conjunction with Yangtze for Asian American artists and its community as a place to showcase their works.

Series comprises documents from three repertories: Four Seas Players 四海劇社, Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America 美國長江劇團, and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre 香港話劇團, dating from 1970 to 2016. Joanna Chan was one of the founders and the Artistic Director at Four Seas Players from 1970 to 1977 and from 1983 to 1992. She also founded the Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America in 1992 in New York City and led for 24 years until around 2016. In addition, she was the Guest Director of Production at the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre in 1985, and the Artistic Director from 1986 to 1990. The materials include administrative and financial records such as meeting minutes and agenda, reports, correspondence, memoranda, programs, programming arrangement materials from the three repertories.
